Liverpool Crown Court
A Tranmere man has admitted a street attack which left the victim critically ill.
Christopher Marc Hughes had been due to face trial today but at the last-minute he changed his plea to guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm on George Craddock.
42-year-old Mr Craddock sustained serious head injuries after the incident outside a shop in Rock Ferry. He was allegedly struck following a row with a group of youths.
22-year-old Hughes, of Beech Court, Tranmere, was further remanded on bail by Judge Brian Lewis who said, "This is a serious case involving devastating consequences for the victim."
A pre-sentence report is to be prepared before Hughes returns on October 4.
