A DANCE group from Wirral proved they are the stars of tomorrow as they won a nationwide television talent show.

‘Future Pride’ – a group of 11-15 year olds from Anamal Dance Company, Hoylake – scooped first place in CBBC’s Alesha’s Street Dance Stars.

Presented by singer and former Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon, the series showcased some of the country’s most talented young performers, with three crews battling it out in the grand final.

And Future Pride were finally revealed as the champions when the show aired on Friday, August 31.

Choreographer Anna Malone said the children had put all their efforts into the competition and were thrilled to see their hard work pay off.

She said: “The contest was something we had heard about before and all the kids watched it last year so they were asking if we could enter this time.

“We went along to the auditions in Manchester and there were literally hundreds of teams all hoping to get through but luckily we impressed the judges enough to go through to the television rounds.

“For a lot of these kids dancing isn’t just a hobby, it’s their life and they do it every night so they wanted to show off what could do. They were so committed and determined to do themselves justice.”

As part of the contest, Future Pride had to divise a special country and western-themed street dance before being put through to the final.

And their last dance which was an Alice in Wonderland-inspired piece helped them to be crowned the winners.

Anna, who has owned Anamal for eight years, said the victory was a major achievement for the youngsters and is hoping it will lead to bigger and better things for them.

She said: “One of the things the judges commented on was how humble our guys were – they didn’t expect to win at all, they just took each stage as it came and focussed themselves.

“I know the winners of the last series wwere asked to perform on other television shows so if that happened, it would be amazing. But for now, we are over the moon to have won and everyone is celebrating!”
