A BUSINESSMAN was robbed on his way to a bank in Port Sunlight to deposit the day’s takings.

Police are appealing for information following the incident which took place on Tuesday, August 28.

At about 9.40am a business employee was carrying cash in a rucksack was on his way to deposit takings at a bank on Greendale Road when he was approached by two men.

One of the men grabbed him and as he did so the other took his rucksack. Both then ran off in the direction of Lever House.

Members of the public ran after them along a footpath. The robbers then threatened them before running through an alleyway onto Newlands Road.

Police say the victim was uninjured but very shaken.

Detective Constable John Molyneux said: "This was a frightening experience for the victim. Robberies are rare in this area and I am hoping someone will have witnessed some unusual or suspicious activity on this particular morning and who may be able to help our investigation.

"I would particularly like to hear from anyone who recognises the descriptions of the offenders or who saw someone like this in the area on Tuesday morning. Information like that, however small, could help us trace the people responsible."

The first robber was aged between 20 and 30, about 6ft tall of average build.

The second was aged about 30, approximately 5ft 5ins, of large build. He was clean-shaven and was wearing a woolen hat, black tracksuit and gloves.

No one deserves to be robbed,however I think most people would have the sense not to carry a ruck sack full of cash,the world is crime ridden and needs sorting out when are the powers to be going to cut
