Tranmere Rovers extend loan of Ben Gibson
TRANMERE Rovers have today extended the loan signing of defender Ben Gibson until January 2013.
The 19-year-old joined Rovers for a month from Middlesbrough in mid-August and has helped Ronnie Moore's squad to second place in League 1 and three clean sheets from the opening five league games. Gibson progressed through the youth system at Middlesbrough and spent time on loan at Plymouth Argyle and York City last season.
Manager Moore said: “Ben has been fantastic for us since he arrived. He’s vocal, he’s a leader and he defends well.
“He’s only young but he seems like he’s been playing for years and I think he’s got a very bright future ahead of him.
“He’s settled in really well since he has been here and I’m delighted Tony Mowbray and Middlesbrough have agreed to extend his loan with us.”
Ben added: “I’m really happy to be staying. The lads and coaching staff have all been brilliant with me and the people behind the scenes have been fantastic. I’ve loved every minute of it.”
Ben will be available for Tranmere’s home game against Coventry City on Saturday, 15 September, kick off 3pm.
