Rovers retain clean sheet after goalless draw with Crewe
12:09pm Monday 10th September 2012 in News By Craig Manning
TRANMERE Rovers kept another clean sheet at the weekend in goalless draw against Crewe.
Manager Ronnie Moore’s squad has conceded just two goals in League One this season with Ben Gibson playing every minute after joining on loan from Middlesbrough.
Moore will use the club's first midweek without a game this sesason to work with striker Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro on the training ground.
He is now preparing the sqaud for Saturday’s League One match against Coventry at Prenton Park.
Rovers’ League One campaign has got off to a strong start this season with the club taking 11 points from five games. They are currently in second place having topped the table last week.
Ronnie said this morning: "I'll do some work with the strikers. I thought Akpa Akpro had a couple of chances on Saturday that if he'd put away it would have been a different story. It will be nice for me to get a bit of time to work with Akpa Akpro.
On the mood around the club, Ronnie said: “There’s a lot of confidence in the dressing room at the moment, which is good. A clean sheet’s also a good thing.”
“It’s nice, but would have been nicer with a win. Three points would have made it a lot better..”
On Ben Gibson, Ronnie said: “He’s a young kid in the mould of Wallace really; he’s a talker, he’s winner and for 19 he’s a tremendous prospect really.
“There are plenty of clubs out there who would have taken him.
“York were desparate to have him back. It’s good that Tony Mowbray has allowed him to stay with us until January.”
