A Birkenhead woman accused of murdering her partner has appeared at Liverpool Crown Court.

25-year-old Cherie Cooper, who appeared via video link from Styal prison, spoke only to confirm her identity.

Cooper is alleged to have killed Darren Dempsey by stabbing him in the chest at their terraced home in Briardale Road, Birkenhead, on August 17.

She was further remanded in custody until November 12 when she is expected to enter her plea. A date for her trial, expected to last five days, was fixed to begin on January 21.
