A WOMAN had to be cut from her car following a crash on Wirral's motorway.

A fire crew from Upton was called at 2.22pm yesterday to the M53 Southbound at junction one, near Woodchurch.

Firefighters used cutting gear to free a 35-year-old woman.

The victim was removed from the car by 2.43pm and assessed at the scene by paramedics.

The woman, who was conscious and breathing, was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital by ambulance for what was understood to be a precautionary check-up.

No other vehicle was involved in the accident.
