A MERSEYSIDE firm has raised £16,000 for Claire House as part of a three-year campaign.
Staff from Liverpool-based commercial property company Bruntwood have taken part in sporting events such as the Liverpool 10k run, the Santa Dash and property triathlon, to raise the cash. They have also held golf days and cake bakes.
The £12,000 was raised in the first year of its three-year campaign which aims to raise £50,0000. An additional £4,000 has so far been raised this year.
Helen Carlson, northern area fundraising manager for Claire House, said: “We simply couldn’t continue our work at the hospice without the support and dedication of companies such as Bruntwood.
"From the amazing amount of money they have raised, it’s clear that every member of staff has taken our cause to their hearts and we’re so grateful for the help they’ve given to local families that need it.”
The hospice’s current fundraising campaign asks businesses and individuals to ‘Pay for a Day’. With limited government funding, Claire House requires £6,500 every day to cover the cost of care.
Businesses pledging to raise that amount can have a day dedicated to them at the hospice to celebrate an anniversary or milestone.
David Guest, regional director of Bruntwood said: “We’re delighted to have made our first donation to Claire House, which will be used to refurbish their swim pool and two family's palliative care.
“It is a tough environment to raise funds and we would like to thank everyone who has supported our activities and helped to make a difference to such a wonderful charity”.
Their next fundraising event is the Claire House Golf Day at Formby Hall Golf Club on 20 September.
