THE family of a Wirral toddler with Spina Bifida organised a sponsored walk to raise funds for a specialist wheelchair.

Paige Lines from Wallasey is 18-months-old and needs the equipment to help her get around independently.

In order to raise £1800 for the chair an 8.4mile walk took place on Sunday. More than 30 people took part in the fundraiser, which started in the car park at West Kirby Marine Lake, ending in New Brighton. The event raised around £600.

The fundraising continues this Friday, August 24, with a ladies night at Poulton Victoria Social Club in Poulton Bridge Road, Wallasey at 8pm. Tickets are still available.

Mum Kate told the Globe: “I want to say a big thank you to everyone who turned up to help us raise funds for Paige.
“Paige is a loving, sweet little girl who needs to find her feet and get a wheelchair. She knows that she could soon get one and is very excited about it.

"Paige also has scoliosis, curvature of the spine and club feet, The wheelchair will definitely help get her independence. She manages to get around and is a very determined little girl.
"She may have problems below the waist, but above she's an eager and bright little girl who wants to enjoy life.

“She knows she’s a bit different than other children and sometimes this really frustrates her.
"For example, when my friend brings her daughter to the house, you can see Paige desparately wants to run around with her.

“I’m hoping as many people as possible help us raise the cash for a wheelchair.
"Life can be difficult at home, particularly with things like housework. I sometimes need arms, because I'm holding her at the same time.
