Rovers kick of NPower League One campaign at home tomorrow
TRANMERE Rovers kick-off their NPower League One campaign against Leyton Orient at Prenton Park tomorrow afternoon.
The match, starting at 3pm, will be the 35th time the two clubs have met, with Ronnie Moore's men holding a 15 wins to 12 advantage over their visitors.
Rovers won both fixtures between the two clubs last season, following up the 1-0 away victory with a 2-0 home success on the 100th birthday of Prenton Park.
Defender Ash Taylor and striker Jake Cassidy return to the squad tomorrow, having missed the midweek win at Chesterfield while on international duty with Wales Under-21s.
But defender Ian Goodison will be one of four players out of action with a knee injury. Joining him on the bench is defender Mark McChrystal with a groin injury.
Striker Adam McGurk and and defender Paul Black are also unavailable, due to thigh injuries.
Leyton Orient come to Prenton Park on the back of a penalty shoot out victory over Charlton Athletic in the Capital One Cup.
Orient boss Russell Slade has a fully fit squad to select from after Jamie Jones resumed training, while former Rovers players Ben Chorley and Ryan Brunt are likely to be in his squad.
Rovers ended their League One season with a 1-1 draw against Scunthorpe United at Prenton Park.
Mark McChrystal scored the goal which earned Ronnie Moore's side a final league position of 12th, their highest for three years.
Looking forward to the new season, Ronnie said in May: "It's going to be a fantastic season, with some exciting games coming up.
"It's also going to be a difficult, harder season, with more travelling, so we have to prepare for this.
"I don't want to be sat looking over my shoulder next season saying ‘we need to win a game. We want to be more competitive. Some of the goals we have conceded this season have been jokes.
"Our home form is brilliant, and we need to ensure this is maintained next season. We also have to improve our away form."
