Chance to go for gold in Wirral Paralympic sports week
A WEEK of free sports activities celebrating the Paralympic games will take place at venues across Wirral later this month.
Starting on Bank Holiday Monday, August 27, the activities are open to children and young people with disablities aged from five to 25.
All participants will have the chance to take part in friendly competition and win a paralympic medal and certificate.
Sports include horse riding, tennis, swimming, gymnastics, football, badminton, plus boccia, which is an adapted bowling game. The competition also includes a Family Sports Day.
Cllr Tony Smith, Wirral’s cabinet member for children’s services and lifelong learning said: "With its emphasis on children, young people and families, Wirral’s Paralympic Week will have the paralympic values at its core.
"Paralympic week will give children with a disability and specific needs, plus their families, the opportunity to take part in sports events in partnership with some of Wirral’s well established sports clubs," he added.
For enquires or to make a booking please call Wirral’s Sport Development Office on 0151 637 6160 or email: communitysports@wirral.gov.uk. Parents and/or carers may need to attend each session with their children also.
