Burst water pipe on Wirral road

A WATER mains pipe has burst on a busy road causing residents to be cut off from their supply.

United Utilities confirmed that a cast iron pipe had burst in Reeds Lane, Leasowe, this morning.

The incident, which happened between Birkett Avenue and Reedville Grove, has affected 12 homes.

A United Utilities spokesman said engineers are working to fix the problem.

He said: “The road is still open and we are working to resolve the problem. We are hoping to have the pipe fixed and water supply back to normal by tomorrow.”

Nigel Lanceley, 62, from Hoylake and Chris Moore, 69, from Caldy took two weeks to complete the 874-mile journey in June.
