    If their future on Wirral is dependent on those B's on Wirral Borough Council, then for their own Health and Safety,
    they had better buzz off to a sunnier clime ASAP!
    This mob are incapable of acting in any way that is of benefit to the community they are supposed to serve, so what chance do bees have?.
    If they do leave, I would love them to give a right royal stinging to every last one of them as a parting shot."

Chief officers could soon be obliged to consider the welfare of bees when they are drawing up new planning policies.

A meeting of the full Wirral Council on Monday will hear the authority has an important part to play in retaining and creating an environment in which pollinating insects can "survive and thrive.”

A notice of motion by Eastham Lib Dem councillor draws members’ attention to research by Friends of the Earth which says we need bees to pollinate many important food crops, including most fruit and vegetables.

It goes on: “Areas that bees and other pollinators rely on will be vulnerable to development pressures and that strong Local Plan policies should protect areas important to bees.“

It stresses new developments should create areas for nature including "green roofs" and other natural spaces.

Accordingly, the council will request its officers to study the concerns raised by Friends of the Earth and to take these into account when framing and updating local policies.

The motion will be subject to a vote.
