MORE than 3000 women have now signed up to take part in this year's Wirral Race for Life.
Organisers hope 5000 will register for the Globe-backed event, taking place in Birkenhead Park a week on Sunday, Juy 15.
So far, 3327 woman have registered to take part. Entries will close late on the night of Thursday, July 12.
Katherine Culshaw, organiser of the Wirral event, said: "We are bowled over by the support of Wirral women for Race for Life once again this year.
"Everyone at Cancer Research UK is really looking forward to the Birkenhead event as the Wirral participants are so enthusiastic and committed to the cause.
"It's not too late to sign-up and enjoy a fantastic day out at the same time as raising money for Cancer Research UK."
Setting the runners off at the start of the race is Kate Fletcher, 25, from Wallasey, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last year.
She has undergone gruelling treatment and has been cancer-free since August.
She now needs regular check-ups to ensure she remains cancer free.
The part-time barmaid took part in last year's event, but was only able to walk having had surgery just weeeks earlier. She hopes to be able to run this time around.
In 2011, 4,366 women took part in Race for Life in the Wirral and raised £184,487.
