IT was Semi Final day in the CDFL – Roodee Web Designs – Tom Gerraghty Memorial Trophy at Tarvins Field of Dreams and both games did not fail to deliver.

In the day's early kick-off it was Premier Division runners up, Waggon and Horses, who took on Division Two high fliers Lache FC.

On paper it was Waggon who looked favourites and took control early on, taking the lead after ten minutes. However, Lache did not lie down and came straight back, knocking in two goals before half-time.

Waggon came back in the second half and levelled once again only for Lache to take the lead five minutes later.

The resilient Waggon continued to push forward and took the game to Lache and were rewarded with a goal to level the score at 3-3.

The game looked like it was heading to extra time until a late penalty was awarded to Lache who converted and secured their place in the final. Ovi Poppa, Sam Henry and Adam Stenning were the Waggon marksmen with the winners coming from Liam McGovern, Adie Callaghan, Joey Waters and the super cool Callum Humphries who converted the late penalty.

In the day's second semi final, it was Premier Division Champions Kelsall who met Division One runners up Shaftesbury Youth FC.

Once again, on paper, it looked to be Kelsall's game but none told Shaftesbury.

Kelsall took an early lead through Mark Fitzsimmons but Shafts came straight back and levels the score 1-1 at halftime through Jamie Atkinson.

In the second half Kelsall took the lead once again through Adam Woodward only to see it canceled out by Jamie Smith of Shaft's.

Jamie Smith then hit his second of the day and looked to be taking Shafts through to the final but the day's football was far from over.

With the seconds ticking and deep into time added on, Kelsall kept up relentless pressure on the Shaftesbury goal and were awarded a penalty for hand ball by a Shafts defender.

Neil Astbury kept his head and levelled the score at 3-3 and took the game into extra-time.

The next thirty minutes was a tight affair with neither side wanting to give away to much and penalties were needed to decide who would meet Lache at the Exacta Stadium on May 9.

All the penalties were going in until the Shaftesbury goal keeper pulled off a stunning save to his right and then stepped up and converted his penalty straight after giving Shaft's the edge.

Kelsall then converted their last and had to hope that Shaft’s missed theirs.

But this was not to be Kelsall's day. Shaft's converted their last penalty and mass celebrations erupted all over the park.

A Lache FC v Shaftesbury Youth FC final looks to be quite a mouth watering event if these two games are anything to go by.
