Quad bike warning follows Hoylake sandbank rescue

Quad bike warning follows Hoylake sandbank rescue Quad bike warning follows Hoylake sandbank rescue

Coastguards issued a warning over dangers of taking a quad bike out onto Hoylake’s treacherous sandbanks when there is an incoming spring tide.

The advice came after a rescue on Sunday when the driver of a quad bike called Liverpool Coastguard for assistance when his machine broke down on the East Hoyle bank.

RNLI Hoylake's tractor “Bravo” was dispatched to the scene where the rider and his quad were sitting on top of the sandbank.

The quad was towed to the safety of the promenade, where crew members assisted getting it onto its trailer and Coastguards advised its owner of the dangers of being on the sandbanks with an incoming Spring tide.
