Rail services between Wirral and Liverpool suspended after flood

RAIL services between Birkenhead and Liverpool were suspended this morning following because of flooding on the track.

A water pump, operated by Network Rail and situated in the tunnel between Hamilton Square and James Street stations, was leaking onto the track.

The problem was spotted at around 5am by the driver of a Liverpool-bound train who raised the alarm.

Services to Chester and Ellesmere Port are currently starting and terminating at Birkenhead Central.

Services to New Brighton and West Kirby are starting and terminating at birkenhead north.

A very limited rail replacement bus service is in operation, passengers are advised to make alternate travel arrangements.

Network Rail engineers have repaired the problem and power has been restored to the line.

On the days after the controllers of network rail where offered huge bonuses, we have a power cut on friday, and today a pump breakdown in the tunnel, then no trains on sunday due to maintance works going on the wirral line, just perhaps could the senior management take an intrest in the network, oh and please dont have a go at the station staff its not them to blame but senior mangement who have no name or direct line to complain to.
