A BIRKENHEAD road was closed off today after a man hurled masonary from the rooftops at police.
Officers were called to Balls Road, Prenton, at around 1.45am and found the man climbing on to the roof.
The force's helicopter was also used to assist the operation.
Police negotiators tried to talk him down, but he started throwing bricks and other objects at officers on the ground.
Damage was caused to some vehicles parked nearby, but no-one was injured.
The man came down at around 5.50am and ran off, but police found him and he was arrested a short time later.
The 20-year-old from Prenton was held on suspicion of burglary, criminal damage and public order offences.
He was taken to a police station where he is being interviewed.
