A GROUP of kind-hearted neighbours in Moreton will start their Christmas celebrations tonight by lighting up their street for Claire House.

For the last eight years residents in Amberley Close have worked together to create a winter wonderland to raise cash for the hospice. The lights will be switched on aT 6.30pm.

The tradition, which has so far raised more than £6,000, was started by Karen and Frank Williams and next-door neighbours Peter and Sandra George.

They wanted to help towards giving the children at the Clatterbridge-based hospice a Christmas to remember.

Looking ahead to tonight's switch-on Peter told the Globe: "It's going to be fantastic and we want as many people as possible to come along. The more the merrier.

"It's taken about two weeks to decorate the houses and we're still working on this afternoon.

"We enjoy doing it and it's a lot hard work, but it's all for Claire House, which needs every penny it can get.

"It's important to do everything we can to help by giving whatever we can."

And the Christmas magic does not end there, as Peter explained: "We've got a post box in which the kids can post letters to Santa. Every letter will be answered."
