COMMUTERS faced disruption this morning after a derailed train blocked the track.
The empty Merseyrail train was being parked at Rock Ferry for the night when one of its wheels left the track at around 12.30am.
Passengers travelling from Chester and Ellesmere Port to Liverpool have to leave the train at Rock Ferry station to board a shuttle bus to Birkenhead Central where they can then catch the train to Liverpool.
A 15 minute service is running on the Chester line between Chester and Rock Ferry, and a 30 minute shuttle service is running between Ellesmere Port and Hooton.
A Merseyrail spokesman said engineers are working to remove the train at Rock Ferry and it is hoped the problem will be resolved by this evening's rush hour.
