A BUS caught fire on a busy Wirral road yesterday morning.
The incident happened at around 7.15am in Mount Road near Clatterbridge roundabout.
A Merseyside Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said the flames spread quickly through the 'out of service' bus and caused major problems for drivers.
The bus driver suffered no injuries.
It is believed the single decker Arriva bus had a mechanical fault which led to the blaze.
Up to 50% of the vehicle was severely damaged by fire and the remainder of the bus was damaged by heat and smoke.
