As Hoose Court in Hoylake is demolished this week, local people are being asked for their ideas on how the vacant land should be used.

Wirral Partnership Homes are currently knocking down the sheltered accommodation in and say they are planning to consult with local people when the demolition is complete.

Hoose Court, constructed in the early-1970s, was split over two buildings but the front block was “not up to standard” according to WPH.

Residents of the front block had to share mixed-sex bathrooms and toilet facilities, but WPH says they have now been moved to "better" accommodation.

The organisation is planning to ask to local people how they would the block’s former site to be “soft-landscaped.”

Patrick McCarthy, WPH deputy chief executive, said: “The front block has now been standing empty for some time and we will be demolishing it over the next couple of months.

"The second block that sits at the back of the Hoose Court site will remain.

"This contains 23 purpose-built sheltered accommodation studio flats.

“When the building work is nearing completion, WPH will be holding a public consultation to discuss how we should soft landscape the land at the front of Hoose Court where the front block stood.

"This will be open to all, and we hope that as many people as possible will get involved to give their views.”
