POLICE have launched a fresh appeal in their search for a Wirral man who has been missing for nearly a year.

Father-of-three Brendan Taaffe, aged 40, left his home in Larch Road, Birkenhead, in the early hours of January 25 and has not been seen since.

He has two young daughters and an older son and his mum is desperate to hear that he is okay.

She said: "Brendan was friendly, outgoing and good fun. He is a very loving family man who is deeply missed by his mum, sister and children.”

Police Constable Helen McCauley from Birkenhead CID, said: "Brendan was sadly suffering from depression when he walked out and both the police and his family and friends are concerned for his safety.

"I would appeal for readers to look at his picture and cast their minds back to whether they have ever seen him. If so, please let the police or the Missing Persons helpline know as that information could be crucial to us helping this family at Christmas.”
