WIRRAL’S cabinet will be asked to approve the sale of its adult social services department offices in Birkenhead.
A report by the authority’s director of Law, Bill Norman, will recommended the sale of Westminster House in Hamilton Street to Wirral Partnership Homes for £1.9m, as part of the council’s "rationalisation" of its accommodation.
During a meeting in June, cabinet was asked to consider a business case that recommended a preferred option for future provision of administrative buildings.
It recommended keeping a group of five buildings and leaving 17, which would be replaced by 9,716sq mtrs of new accommodation.
A meeting of the cabinet tonight will decide whether to proceed with the Westminster House sale.
If Westminster House is sold, alternative office space will need to be found for the department's staff.
No decision has yet been announced as to where they will be relocated.
