DRUNK AND DISORDERLY: Wirral Magistrates added to the fines tally for a 41-year-old man.

Andrew Kerr of Victoria Road, Birkenhead admitted being drunk and disorderly after a dispute involving his mother-in-law.

He was fined £35 and also must pay £65 costs. Magistrates heard he was already owing £405 in fines.

STOLE FROM MOTHER: Magistrates kept all sentencing options open when bailing a 47-year-old man for reports before sentence.

David Willington, of Bickerton Avenue, Birkenhead, admitted theft of £300 belonging to his mother Barbara Willington at Borough Pavement in Grange Precinct and on a different date the attempted theft of £140 belonging to the same complainant.

He must not make any contact with his mother as a condition of bail.

WOUNDING CHARGES: A young Wallasey man facing a harm allegation was sent to the Crown Court by Wirral Magistrates.

Robert Derek Bougourd, 21, of Lansdowne Road, was conditionally bailed to appear before a judge on January 13.

He is charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm at Gorsehill Road, Wallasey, in June.

There is also a second allegation of possessing a bladed instrument in a public place without authority or reasonable excuse.

A second accused was committed to the Crown Court at an earlier hearing on the harm matter.

MEN STOLE SCRAP: Two men short of money were caught by police trying to steal scrap from the ex-Mobil Oil site in Wallasey Bridge Road, Birkenhead.

Roger Berry, 49, of Highfield South, and Paul Clohessy, 24, of Queens Road, both Rock Ferry, admitted burglary and theft of copper and scrap metal in early October.

Both were bailed by Magistrates to a later date for sentence after reports. Clohessy was said to be in breach of a conditional discharge for an earlier theft matter.

EXPERTS CALLED IN: Magistrates adjourned a motoring allegation against a woman driver for a trial date to be fixed.

Debra Brennan, 40, of Brow Road, Birkenhead, denied driving when more than three-and-a-half times above the legal alcohol limit in August.

She claims post-driving consumption of some of the alcohol and the defence are to call an expert witness.

SEX ALLEGATIONS: A Wirral man appeared before Magistrates on sex allegations going back to 2001.

Donald Anthony Burns, 41, of New Street, Wallasey, was sent for Crown Court trial and was conditionally bailed for a first appearance before a judge on November 11.

He is charged with raping a girl under the age of 16. There is also a charge alleging sexual touching of a young girl and four matters of indecent assault.

CCTV TO BE VIEWED: Assault charges against two men were put off for a fortnight by Magistrates for the defence to view cctv footage.

Jenny Williams, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said she would be asking for the matters against David Hylands, 30, of Parkview Close, Birkenhead, and Alan Joseph Sutton, 27, of Carr Bridge Road, Woodchurch, to be sent to the Crown Court.

They are charged with bodily harm assault and common assault at Conway Street, Birkenhead, in August.

JAILED FOR DRIVING OFFENCES: Magistrates jailed a 46-year-old man for 16 weeks on motoring matters.

William James Leyland of Proctor Road, Birkenhead, appeared for sentence after he admitted driving while disqualified in August, not having insurance cover, and failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis under the Road Traffic Act.

The court heard he had a list of previous convictions.

A new three-year disqualification was imposed.

YMCA RESIDENT DETAINED: Police detained a YMCA resident who was abusive after being refused entry because of his drunken condition.

Paul Flynn, 40, staying at the YMCA in Whetstone Lane, Birkenhead, admitted being drunk and disorderly. He was fined £50 plus £60 costs.

Laura Flynn for the defendant said he spent 12 hours in custody after his arrest which was a penalty in itself. He had been allowed back at the YM which suggested they did not consider the offence too serious.

MAN IS BAILED: Wirral Magistrates bailed a Birkenhead man until December 8 for trial or for a basis of plea to be considered.

James O’Hara, 22, of Brougham Avenue, is charged with assault by beating at Bidston Road, Birkenhead, on October 4 and also causing damage to a bedroom window.

The court was told O’Hara disputed there was any kicking during the incident.

COMMON ASSAULT DENIED: Abdul Shoqeir, 36, of Raleigh Road, Leasowe, was remanded on bail until December 7 by Magistrates for evidence to be called.

He denied common assault at Raleigh Road on October 3.
