Police are urging the public to be cautious following reports of prescription medicine being sold in a pub in Birkenhead.
Officers received a report of two people attending a pharmacy in Birkenhead complaining of feeling ill after taking medication bought from a male customer in a pub in the area. The men then left the pharmacy.
Police say at this point the pub in question is unknown.
An investigation is underway and it is believed the drugs being sold are Furosemide tablets, a member of a class of drugs called diuretics, and they are described as being white in colour, round with "F40" imprinted on them.
It is believed the drugs may have been stolen.
Enquiries are ongoing and police are still trying to trace the people who made the initial reports.
The tablets should not be taken by anyone who they are not prescribed for and could prove dangerous if they are taken without a proper prescription.
Anyone with information about the man selling these drugs or have any information should contact police on 0151 709 6010 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
