POLICE have arrested two men on suspicion of murder following the death of a 30-year-old man in Tranmere last night.

At around 11.20pm, officers were called to a disturbance in Crofton Road.

At the same time, they received reports of a collision between a silver Ford Transit van and a number of parked vehicles in nearby Fairfield Road.

On arrival, they found the driver of the van seriously injured by a single stab wound.

The driver was taken to hospital where he later died.

A Home Office post mortem will be carried out later today to establish the cause of death.

Two men aged 30 and 35, both from the Tranmere area have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody awaiting interview from detectives.

The investigation is at an early stage but officers are working to establish the connection between the two scenes.

The scene has been sealed for forensic examination and house to house enquiries are on-going. A highly-visible police presence will remain in the area to provide reassurance to the public.
