STUDENTS from a Wirral school will stage their acclaimed production of Grease: The School Musical at the Floral Pavilion Theatre in New Brighton tonight.
The talented young cast from Wallasey School in Leasowe became the focus of national attention earlier this year after winning a televised competition to perform the hit musical at a London venue.
They entered Sky One's 'Grease: The School Musical' show, beat 500 other schools from around the country and, as their prize, became stars on the West End stage.
Tonight's performance at the Floral Pavilion starts at 7.30pm.
During a special reception at Wallasey Town Hall in October, the students and production team were praised for their very success.
At the time, headteacher Philip Duffy said: "It was an amazing and very emotional experience. The series was actually extended because it proved so popular, it was such a big success with Sky and with viewers.
"As well as boosting the profile and reputation of our school, it has proved a springboard for individual talent as we have pupils who have now been offered places at stage schools.
"We were delighted that it reflected Wallasey School's caring and supportive environment, and how talent is recognised here.
"I would personally like to thank all the students who took part, from the initial auditions to the eventual stage show – they were all a credit, and of course my wonderful staff for their support."
Tickets for tonight's show are from the Floral Pavilion box office on 666 0000.
