Police hunt for arsonists after fire at Wirral paint shop

AN arson investigation is underway after a Wirral paint shop burst into flames when a car was rammed into its front shutters and set alight.

An Austin Montego had been reversed and wedged into the roller shutters of Johnstone's Leyland Decorating Centre in Prenton Way Business Trading Park, Prenton, at around 8.30pm on Thursday.

It was set alight and the flames spread through to the factory at the back of the shop. The car was destroyed by fire.

It took fire crews around three hours to tackle the blaze.

No one was injured.

Witnesses, or anyone with information relating to the incident, can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
