POLICE are investigating after a body was found in the remains of a fire in a first floor flat in Seacombe in the early hours of this morning.
Officers were alerted by members of Merseyside Fire and Rescue service, who were called to the blaze at around 3am.
Today, the area around the flat - above a delicatessen on Brighton Street about 250 yards from Wallasey Town Hall - is still sealed off.
The coroner has been informed and a post mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of death.
It is not yet known if the deceased is a man or a woman.
