Leading environment role for Wirral's Euro MP

Wirral MEP Chris Davies has been appointed team leader and spokesman for the European Liberal group on the influential environment committee in the European Parliament.

Mr Davies will now lead the seven-strong Liberal group on the committee over the next five years.

He said he will ensure "the EU creates new jobs and takes the green road out of the recession."

He said: "Threats to our environment don't stop at national borders and the EU is a powerful force for improving the quality of our environment across the North West, across the UK and across the continent.

"I am humbled by the support of my colleagues from Liberal parties across Europe to take forward this exciting work."

Wirral MEP Chris Davies, do remember to spend some of your time on matters that will improve the Wirral, let us all remember we could lead by example, what about turn the heating in all council offices, turn off the lights when not needed, and install more solar energy roof panels on public buildings, thus spending our money, creating job opportunities and encouraging enterprize in the Wirral, and not lavishing exorbitant expenses on our MPs and local councilors,

Dear Chris, I must say you look stunning in the photo, I always said red was your colour, so handsome, and so majestic. I bet Dave Camaron will be livid when he sees your picture, much better than his. Do you remember when he shot up there to have his picture taken for that completly useless bit of gesture politicking? Grim faced, staring out at far distant horizons, looking for a polar bear or something. He must have thought we were all stupid. I couldn't stop laughing, tears running down my cheeks, and thinking to myself, 'What an absolute prat'. Not you though Chris, not your style, you're above that sort of thing. Chris, if I can offer you one piece of advice, without you thinking me cheeky, I think you should calm down a bit. I mean this business about 'I am humbled by the support of my colleagues from Liberal parties....'. I don't want to urinate on your bonfire, but lets keep a sense of proportion. You are a political nonentity, chosen by another bunch of political nonentities, to be their spokesman on global warming, or climate change, or whatever their calling it this week. A subject that is as far as I'm concerned, just one giant hoax. I know you'll be very busy saving the world from now on, and you won't have much time to keep your finger on the pulse of what's going on in Wirral, so I'll keep you up to speed. You know Cllr Gill Gardiner don't you? You do, she's the Lib/Dem environmental bore on something or other for the council. Well she wants us all to sort out our kitchen slops into yet another little bin. Isn't that exiting. Apparently China and India have been doing it for years with great success. So with that bit of good news and of course yours, it's been an exciting week for you, and your party. So that's it for now, I will keep in touch, promise. I hope you won't mind if I finish by paraphrasing Oscar Wilde, 'Thank you my friend, every time I look into my slop bucket, I shall be reminded of you, and Liberal Democrats'.
