Police have arrested a man on suspicion of armed robbery following an incident at a chemist shop in Birkenhead.
It is understood a man entered the Rowland's Numark Pharmacy store on Market Street at around 3pm today. Officers say the man was armed.
The alarm was raised by a passer-by and a police chase ensued through Argyle Street, ending in a car park near Hinson Street where an arrest was made.
Police later called in the fire service to assist with a search for a weapon.
No one is believed to have been hurt in the incident.
