ARE you part of the best pub quiz team in Wirral?
If so, prove it - by joining the Globe’s brilliant Top Dog competition, which will finally mark the best of the rest and raise cash for charity at the same time.
Up for grabs is the chance to win our specially-designed Top Dog Trophy, bragging rights across the peninsula for an entire year, some great nights out with your friends, colleagues and family - and the chance to raise cash for a brilliant local charity.
Because all the proceeds from the Globe’s Top Dog Pub Quiz will go to our chosen charity this year, Wirral Autistic Society’s “Home From Home” Appeal to raise £1.3m for a specially-built family respite unit at the society’s headquarters in Raby Mere.
Anyone over 18 can enter - be it a regular pub team, local businesses wanting to get in on the act or other organisations wanting a chance to vie to be Wirral’s Top Dog!
Entering it is easy - pubs around Wirral will hold their own quiz night heats, and the winning team from each heat will then be invited to take part in the grand final, to be held in October at the King’s Gap Court Hotel in Hoylake.
The rules are simple: Pubs wanting FREE posters to advertise their Top Dog Trophy quiz nights should email Globe news editor Justin Dunn at jdunn@wirral-globe.co.uk with the words TOP DOG in the subject line.
To find out more about entering the quiz and for making donations to the Wirral Autistic Society, call their fundraiser Rick Myers on 482 3145.
1) After it’s own heat, each pub may enter only one team into the grand final.
2) Each team will earn the right to represent their pub by winning a qualifying competition.
3) Pubs can start running their heats from Monday, August 11 to Saturday, September 20.
4) Teams will comprise of between four and six players.
5) The grand final will be held at The King’s Gap Court Hotel in Hoylake on Friday, October 17.
6) A maximum of thirty teams will contest the grand final. If necessary, semi-finals will take place in early October.
7) Each participating pub will raise a minimum donation to Wirral Autistic Society of £200 - but feel free to raise much more than that!
8) NO cash prizes will be given, as all proceeds will go to the Wirral Autistic Society Home From Appeal. But the winners DO take home the unique Top Dog Trophy - and a year’s worth of bragging rights to rival quiz teams!
Our newshound needs a name
HE’S neat, he’s unique - and he’s all ours (for now). But what our Top Dog is really lacking is a name!
The Globe wants children across Wirral to come up with a name for what will soon be the borough’s top trophy.
Think of something smart, original and clever - just like all the pub teams out there! - and email it in to us at jdunn@wirral-globe.co.uk. The winner will receive a special Globe front page featuring them on it!
