THE man behind one of the world's most iconic sci-fi film characters comes to Seacombe Spaceport this weekend, April 19 and 20.
Peter Mayhew played Chewbacca in the original Star Wars Trilogy and returned to play him in the final instalment, Episode Three: Revenge Of The Sith in 2004.
And this Saturday and Sunday, the 64-year-old Texas-based giant - who stands at a towering 7' 3" - will be among those signing autographs at the event which brings to an end Spaceport's hugely successful Sci Fi at the Movies exhibition.
Joining him will be Paul Blake who played Greedo, Rusty Goffe (Jawa), Ian Liston (Wes Janson) and Gerald Home (Tessek).
The celebration brings to an end Spaceport's hugely successful Sci Fi at the Movies exhibition.
Characters from a host of other science fiction films, courtesy of the Knights of the Empire, will also be entertaining crowds.
Fans will get to see characters including Halo, Spiderman, Batman and Robin, Joker, Riddler, Power Rangers and Robocop.
A host of other events and entertainment will also be on offer throughout the weekend.
The Sci Fi at the Movies exhibition shows artifacts from some of the world's most famous science fiction movies, giving fans an opportunity to some never before seen movie memorabilia and some iconic superheroes and villains.
Peter worked at King's College Hospital in London when he received the call about playing Chewbacca in 1976.
