TRAFFORD Athletic Club’s stadium is positioned on the boundary between Chorlton and Stretford and over the years has enjoyed producing and developing top athletes who have gone to national and international success.
But the facility also provides other opportunities for local people to enjoy exercise in a variety of ways.
One of the most successful of these is the charity Simply Cycling, which was started in a very modest way 15 years ago as a voluntary run group on one day a week but due to popularity and demand has grown over the years.,
Helen Hines, one of the founders of the charity, said: “We presently run open sessions on six days a week at various venues in the area.
“We are at Trafford AC in Longford Park on Sundays 1-3pm, Monday and Friday, at 9am-noon, and we aim to provide a bike for everybody and hope to offer advice and friendship, a social network and a place of exercise.
“We also offer ride-outs adapting these according to need and we offer one-to-one support for those that want to learn to ride, develop their skills and/or confidence.
“Anyone interested in attending/joining in can contact me on either 07871621778 or email helenhines68@hotmail.com.”
