A MAN accused of murdering his dad has denied the allegation.
Daniel Renshaw pleaded not guilty to the murder of his father, Graham Renshaw, in Ellesmere Port this summer.
Liverpool Crown Court heard from his QC Gordon Cole that at trial he will tell the jury that the defendant accepts responsibility for unlawful killing on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
Mr Renshaw, 52, was found suffering serious injures at a property in Seymour Drive in the early hours of Thursday, June 14. He was rushed to the Countess of Chester Hospital, where he later died.
His 27-year-old son, of Drake Road, Neston, appeared in court via video link from Altcourse Prison and sat with his arms folded during the 15 minute hearing.
A date for his trial, expected to last between five to seven days, has been fixed to begin on December 3 either at Liverpool or Chester Crown Court.
