AN animal care assistant is set to face her fears and skydive for RSPCA's Wirral and Chester branch.

Mandy Martin, 35, from Moreton will be taking part in the 15,000ft tandem skydive on Saturday, October 27 at Grange-over-Sands in Cumbria.

After working for the animal charity for nine years, Mandy now wants to give something back and is hoping to raise £2,000 for RSPCA Wirral and Chester.

So far the Justgiving total stands at £210.

She told the Globe: "I often think I wish there was something else I could do to raise money for the centre so against my better judgement, I not the biggest fan of heights, I have decided to push myself to the limit.

"I think it's a case of you see this and there's a real shock factor. I hate heights but I wanted to put myself out there and feel that vulnerability to raise money for something I love.

"Working at the RSPCA is something i've always wanted to do. From leaving school I have worked to help animals.

"I absolutely love my work.

"All the staff and volunteers at the centre do a fantastic job with the care, rehabilitation and rehoming of every animal that comes through their doors.

"This of course would not be possible without the constant support of the general public.

"Our centre doesn't get funds from the main branch, we are completely self funded so every penny raised really does help.

"I really hope the Wirral community could get behind this as the centre does great work to rehabilitate and rehome animals.

"Please please done to help us continue with the work we do and keep this amazing centre open."
