A WIRRAL charity supporting people with dementia has launched a campaign to recruit more volunteers.

Dementia Together organises regular events and is also involved in fundraising for dementia-friendly cafés. It puts on activities including singing and cinema visits.

Their campaign for more help is backed by Wirral West MP Margaret Greenwood, who recently visited the organisation's Memory Café at Flissy's in Thurstaston.

She said: "It was a real pleasure to meet the volunteers and friends of Dementia Together Wirral and to find out more about their work.

"I would urge anyone who thinks they may be interested in becoming a volunteer to get in touch with them.

"No one should have to face dementia alone and I would also recommend anyone who could benefit from the support that the group provides to get in touch with Dementia Together Wirral."

Allan Grogan, the charity's chair and trustee, said: "We facilitate a social setting where people living with dementia and their carers can relax in an understanding environment for support and friendship.

"With Margaret's support we can help to raise our profile so that more people can find out about our work and the help we provide to people living with dementia."
