CHESTER outfit, Upton AA, with three wins from as many outings, claimed top spot in the race for the West Cheshire League's Division One title.

In midweek a Luke Finch penalty earned Upton maximum spoils from their clash with Vauxhall Motors Reserves. 

On Saturday, he struck twice and was joined on the scoresheet by Chris Coughlin, Sean Finch and Nathan Mapletoft in his side's 5-1 eclipse of local rivals, Chester Nomads.

Second placed Newton also remained unbeaten, after efforts from Gerard King (2), Ryan Beigan and Dom Coddington clinched a 4-0 result over Richmond Raith Rovers while newcomers, Ellesmere Port Town, were another side who made it three wins on the trot, when they overcame Neston Nomads 2-1, courtesy of a goal apiece from Kevin Fields and John Wainwright.

Reigning champions, South Liverpool, beat Richmond Raith Rovers 3-1 in midweek but had to settle for a point at the weekend after they finished 1-1 with Rainhill Town.

Joel Woods, Dave Thompson, Muktar Manama and Wayne Smith applied the finishing touches as Maghull won 4-0 against West Kirby.

Goals from Andy Kingan, Mike Potter and Mke Reynolds helped Ashville to a 3-1 victory over Marshalls and a smart double from Jimmy Eaves proved decisive, as Hale recorded a 2-1 success at Vauxhall Motors Res.

On Friday evening, it was celebration time for Mossley Hill Ath, Luca Winterton and Joe Hornby finding the net in a narrow 2-1 decision over Redgate Rovers.

In Division Two, leaders Heswall were indebted to efforts from Paul Lindfield, Nana Eneh and Mke Bristow, which anchored them to a 3-1 triumph against Maghull Res, while nearest rivals, South Liverpool Res. savoured a 4-0 result against Ashville Res. inspired by a Dave Mee double.

Mallaby's Tommy Johnstone went one better with a hat-trick in steering his side to a 6-0 victory over Litherland Remyca Res.

Further efforts from Ellis Byrne (2) and Callum Morrison completed the statistics.

A Duke Jennings double proved decisive, as Page Celtic won 2-1 at West Kirby Res and Rainhill Town Res ran out 5-2 victors at Prescot Cables Res.. Joe Croxford and Jonathan Kenny took the plaudits after bagging two each.

Capenhurst Villa's fine 3-0 win at Wirral SB, was confirmed by strikes from Lee Ludgate, Lewis Cooper and Billy Nixon.

Saturday's Division Three action saw early pacesetters, Wirral SB Res romp home 5-1 at Redgate Rovers Res with goals from Jordan Salisbury, brothers Greg and Drew Stewart-Taylor, Martin Marshall and Jake Maddox. 

Aintree Villa overcame Mersey Royal for the second Saturday in succession, Steve Andrews and an own goal confirming the 2-1 finish.

Top scorers were Burscough Dynamo, who romped home 8-0 against Ellesmere Port Town Res highlighted by a Haitham Cherkaoui hat trick and a double from Chris Orritt.

Elsewhere, Chester Nomads Res had Callum Graham, Cameron Clark and Jordan Davies to thank for their 3-1 victory over Marshalls Res.
