TRANMERE manager Micky Mellon has signed Doncaster Rovers midfielder Luke McCullough on loan until January 2.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder, who can also operate as a centre back, will be available for tonight's League Two game with Mansfield Town at Prenton Park.

His career began at Manchester United in 2010 as a youth player and gained Football League experience with Cheltenham Town on loan.

He signed for Doncaster in 2013 and made his debut against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Championship and was part of the squad that won promotion from League Two in the 2016/17 season.

Impressing during his time at Doncaster, he was called up to the Northern Ireland first team squad and went on to represent them six times and was part of the Euro 2016 squad.

Manager Micky Mellon said: "We're delighted to bring Luke into the group.

"We needed to bring up the numbers in the squad and we feel that Luke has the quality that we want to add to the squad.

"He has experience at international level and the league above as well as being a versatile option in a couple of positions.

"We would like to thanks Grant McCann and Doncaster Rovers for allowing Luke to join us until January."
