FLASH mobs, fizz and fabulous outfits made for a fantastic Ladies' Day 2018.

Hosted by President's Lady, Margaret Harries, the event was a great opportunity for women involved in farming to come together, swap news and support each other.

Musical entertainment was provided by the Cantabile Singers of Pembrokeshire who began their set with a choral flash mob, much to the delight of the crowd, and then sang a mixture of musical favourites, accompanied by musical director, Sam Howley.

As well as being a morning of marvellous outfits and merriment the event has a more serious side; showcasing young women who are making their living from the family farm and raising money for RABI, the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.

This year award winning textile designer, Sian O'doherty, showcased her Handmade in Wales range of sumptuous fabric designs and products, all made on the family farm, some from the wool of her own alpaca herd.

Betsan Twose gave away samples and sold a selection of her delicious homemade cakes produced by her business, Becws Betsi, again on the family farm.

The fundraising raffle for RABI, furnished with generous prizes from local businesses raised more than £1,000.

RABI chairman, Emily Davies, said that from January to June this year the charity had helped 20 farming families in Pembrokeshire, who had been in need through illness, accident or bereavement, to the tune of £22,000. This was up 88 percent on the same time period last year.

"It's been brilliant," said Mrs Harries after the event. "The support in here today reflects the support that the ladies give throughout the show year.

"RABI have put on an amazing raffle and raised over £1,000. The generosity has been incredible.

"Next year we will have the second ever female president of Pembrokeshire Show. It's lady power."
