A16-year-old singer-songwriter is set to take the world by storm as she releases her debut EP ‘Train Song’.

An avid Liverpool Football Club fan, Megan Louise, from Prenton, released ‘Train Song’ on Friday, August 10 at a launch party ‘Megan’s Manorfest’ in Clatterbridge.

Starting out in musical theatre, Megan has found her calling with country music.

She’s already had comparisons to the likes of Taylor Swift and LeAnn Rimes and her major influences include Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Dolly Parton.

The former Wirral Grammar student has had airplay on the likes of BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio Lancashire and Coast FM and performed a sell-out show in Germany.

Megan told the Globe: “I started singing when I was four-years-old and then had my first paid role at the Liverpool Empire when I was seven.

“That’s kind of the go to thing for kids who can sing, going into musical theatre but everyone would say that my voice just wouldn’t blend very well in choirs.

“It was when someone pointed out to me that my voice had a country sounding and that was it, I fell in love with country music.

“At the moment I love The Shires and Ward Thomas, it’s great that country music is really taking off here, it’s not just in America any more, country artists are also venturing into the pop world which is exciting."

Megan writes her own material while collaborating with other local artists, "I’ve been writing music since I was nine and before that I was writing little poems, I love writing things about my favourite TV characters.

“I’ve always had a lot of emotion and never really been sporty so that was my release being creative.

“Every single birthday card i've sent has a poem in it so now I put a copyright sign by it!

“It’s always different writing songs, sometimes I just wake up at night and have an idea for a song or i’ll start singing something and I think ‘oh that’s not a song, why am I singing that?’ but if i’m looking to write a real powerful and meaningful song, then that’s when I co-write because I think having another person there to let your ideas bounce off helps keep your focus.

“I taught myself to play guitar when I was nine-years-old, then when I was older I started off playing pub gigs were I had to play covers and found what people liked to hear from me.

“I'd like to think I will stick with country music, everyone was very wary when I started out but i’ve been at it for five years now so I think I see it carrying on, I guess you never know where it will take you."

The dream for Megan is to perform at The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, "I support my dream would just even be to have a tour or have people sing my songs back to me. It would be crazy.

“Now with Train Song, I'm starting to see a really positive response, my family love it but since the material has been getting some airplay on the likes of BBC Radio 2, I start thinking I don’t even know what I have here and people love it.

"I do really enjoy making other people happy and Train Song is very upbeat. When people see me they’ll sing it back to me and that’s really cool.

“Now i’m actually looking recording a video for my track Rebel and an album may come together soon.

“I’m also going back to Germany, I did one last year and it sold-out!

"I was so overwhelmed, they’ve invited me back so i’m there on December 13.

“I’ve got a full band for that show, they first time I played with tracks.

"There's quite a few Wirral venues I really love to play including the Elephant Cafe but my ultimate venue is where I started out - Thornton Hough Village Club. It was so cute and was the first time I had actually ever played outside my bedroom.

“They’re all really supportive too, telling me how proud they are and asking me to come back.

“I hope to return there soon."

At the age of 14, Megan features on television show, The Voice kids, "I love that people bring up The Voice Kids.

“There were so many auditions to go through but I got through to the next stage, got a call back and then went for an audition at the Good Morning Britain Studios. It was mad.

“I got to work with some awesome people and they genuinely treated me so well.

“I even did my audition on television but they just did not like country music.

“But I believe it's worked out well and because of that experience, i'm now doing what I am now.

“You know, i'm going to be going to record labels later this year and i’m just trying to get things built up.

“I’ll be doing a radio tour later this month and i’ll even be doing the country show on BBC Merseyside. I’m just looking forwards as there's some really exciting things coming up.

“I was also played at Anfield during half time at Liverpool’s first home game of the season. It is absolutely crazy.

“It has been difficult don't get me wrong, the industry is so hard to get into. You have to have some form of talent then it is just pure luck.

“Things have been falling into place for me and i’m glad things are looking up."
