FRIENDS of a family left homeless after a devastating fire at their Tranmere home have launched a campaign to help rebuild their lives.

Lynette Torrington and her three children are trying to find temporary accommodation following the blaze at their home in Seymour Street on Saturday.

A fire service investigation concluded the blaze was caused by a faulty tumble dryer.

Luckily, none of the family were home at the time the blaze started, but when Lynette's son arrived home to change for work an Iceland delivery driver parked in the street alerted him to the fire and that the fire brigade were on their way. Shortly after this the windows blew.

The family's one-year old cocker spaniel American Akita cross 'Beauty' was in the house at the time of the blaze and unbelievably survived but with some minor burns and complications caused by smoke inhalation.

A relative of the family has launched a gofundme page to help get them back on their feet, that has so far raised £792.

Praising the public's support after the tragedy, Lynette told the Globe today: "This past week has been our worst nightmare, it's something you don't expect will ever happen to you.

"We're all, obviously, devastated but it's my kids I feel for the most, years of memories and our Christmases lost.

"We're overwhelmed by people kindness and would like to thank all who have helped us so far, we appreciate it more than you could even know.

"I'm just so thankful that we're all safe and well, including our dog Beauty who miraculously has survived this horrific ordeal.

"We're trying to start rebuilding our lives little by little and we thank anyone who can help us to do this.

"I would like to thank the fire service, who did a fantastic work.

"I would also like to thank the Iceland delivery driver from the Birkenhead store known as 'H' for his vigilance and cool head as the events unfolded on Saturday, without his intervention things could have been much worse."

Family friend Eve Pybis added: "The family have lost everything in the fire, they walked away from their destroyed family home on Saturday with nothing but the clothes on their backs, but they know it could have been so much worse and they're grateful that no one was injured.

"In the wake of this incident the new reality for the family is bleak.

"Like many people they didn't have contents insurance and as such, they need all the support they can get."
