A GROUP of Wirral teenagers has organised a charity concert in aid of Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

Play for Alder Hey will be staged at St Anselm's College in Birkenhead on Monday, starting at 6pm.

The show has been put together by teenagers working together as part of the four-week National Citizen Service scheme taken up by many youngsters after their GCSEs.

They created Play for Alder Hey in just a few days, recruiting bands, booking the venue and getting businesses involved themselves.

The group features Gaby Crawford, Devan Jones, Alicia Ward, Issy Llowarch, Emily Fox, Beth Lowry, Beth Heale, Max Kenney, Bradley Smythe, Beth Wilson, Naomi Parkinson, Emily White, Sam Boyd, Beth Freeman and Benjy Greenhalgh.

Group spokesman Beth Lowry said: "The money raised will go towards the creation of care packages with items particularly aimed at teenage patients as a few members of our group have noticed that when they were there as teenagers, most of the activities available were aimed at younger children."

Bands so far confirmed include The Plan and The Layovers.

Tickets, at £4.50 for adults and £2.50 for children, can be found at the group's Facebook page (facebook.com/alderheycharitygig/) or by emailing the group at ncswirralteam1@gmail.com

The group has also set up a JustGiving page to allow donations at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/playforalderhey

Beth added: "100% of the money we receive will go towards Alder Hey whether through the care packages or through direct donation.

"We have already received the support of companies like The Body Shop, Boots and Sony Interactive Entertainment, and are excited to make a positive difference in our local area!"
