TAEKWONDO students from Wirral are among more than 2,000 competing in an international championship this weekend.

Hosted by the Taekwondo Association of Great Britain, it takes place at Birmingham Arena on Saturday and Sunday.

The 56 students from Wirral & Chester Taekwondo will face competitors from 22 countries in the battle to become World Champion.?

There are also the amateur coloured belt divisions where people of all ages and abilities can also try their skill alongside the great champions!

The age of Wirral & Chester Taekwondo's competitors range from six to 50. Seven of its current World Champions looking to retain their titles.

Senior instructor and team coach Richard Saunders said: "All our members have been training really hard and raised their game this year. I'm excited to see what they can achieve.

"We wish the best to all competitors and hope that the public will join us at the Arena Birmingham to support us on the day."
