A LUXURY candle business is giving away free gifts to all NHS staff to celebrate 70 years of the service.

Owen Drew Luxury Candles are offering gifts worth £10 to anyone employed by the NHS of they visit the Brook Street shop.

Founder of the exclusive fragrance house, Drew Cockton told the Globe: "This is just a small token of our appreciation and thanks for all of the amazing work NHS employees do looking after every man, woman and child in our country, irrespective of their ability to pay".

"My mother Kate Drew, was a Staff Nurse at the Liverpool Royal and it has always been an institution close to my heart.

"I don't believe there is a single person who can say they aren't grateful for it."

Owen Drew was founded by Wallasey entrepreneur Drew, 31, after he began making candles from his home and selling them at craft fairs and on social media.

When Drew noticed the damage that smoke and soot from mass-produced candles were causing to his home, he decided to make his own from natural ingredients which burn with a clean flame.

He now creates a range of products including scented candles, room sprays and sleep aids.

The business has grown so rapidly in 18 months that Drew now employs eight people including three apprentices all working out of a small factory in Birkenhead.

Owen Drew have fans from across the globe and even has a celebrity fan in hotel heiress Paris Hilton, who has posted pictures of the candles on her social media accounts.

The Wirral based firm was recently crowned 'Best Start Up Business' at this year's Small Awards in London and will be handing out fragranced wax melts until Saturday, July 14 at their premises at Unit 5, 254 Brook Street, Birkenhead.

The melts can be used in an oil burner and all staff must show ID and/or proof of employment to redeem.
