RELIVE the golden age of mods and rockers as The Who’s groundbreaking rock opera revs up for Warrington.

Quadrophenia will be brought to life on the Parr Hall stage by eight-piece band, The Goldhawks on March 15, 2019.

They will be performing the album in full live accompanied by a large-screen projection of heart-wrenching archive footage from the era.

Released in October 1973, this hit concept album, which was adapted into a film in 1979, has delighted fans around the world for more than 40 years, paying homage to a movement that went down in British cultural history.

Quadrophenia tells the story of a young mod called Jimmy, by chronicling his dissatisfaction with life, work, love, home and family life.

Holly Jones, from Parr Hall, said: “As an ode to teenage angst and counterculture rebellion, as well as a criticism of British class, economic and educational systems, you might think you need to be a social historian or die-hard mod (or rocker) to really enjoy this show.

“However, you couldn’t be more wrong because at the heart of this gripping production is the same age-old tale of teenage confusion, conflict and frustration that is embedded in every generation.”

The double-album, penned entirely by Pete Townshend, went gold in the UK and platinum in the US and peaked at number two in the charts

“Having received standing ovations from its first show, Quadrophenia has always been a huge success, peaking at number two of the UK and US charts, and continuing to win critical acclaim to this day.”
