PLANS to build an affordable housing development in West Wirra have been submitted to the council.

The proposals would see 11 two-storey homes built on the land off Saughall Massie Road in West Kirby, opposite Black Horse Primary School.

Submitted to the local authority last month, it’s been made on behalf of Magenta Living and is for the vacant land backing onto homes on Saughall Massie Road, Gilroy Road and Paton Close.

If approved, it would be built on a vacant “back land” area, surrounded on all sides by rear gardens and accessed by a narrow road that will reportedly be widened and rebuilt as part of the plans.

If approved, it would also mean the pedestrian route between Paton Close and Saughall Massie Road junction would close.

It follows a public consultation over the plans which took place back in April.

A design and access statement submitted along with the application said: “The scale of the development is in keeping with the grain and scale of the locality.

“The houses have been designed to be of traditional appearance, complementing their surroundings.”

It will mean seven three-bed and four four-bed units which will all be for shared ownership, with 16 parking spaces in total.
