A teenager is receiving treatment for knife wounds after an assault in Rock Ferry.

Emergency services were called to Bedford Road at around 9.15pm on Friday, June 15 following reports of an altercation between two men.

On arrival police discovered a 17-year-old man with slash wounds to his leg.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and is believed to be in a serious but stable condition.

A cordon was put in place on the street and forensic, CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who may have information to come forward.

Detective inspector Susan Ennis said: “These are the very early stages of our investigation and the exact circumstances are unclear, but we are keen to hear from anyone who saw this incident or anyone making off from the area of Bedford Road at around 9.15pm.

"If you live locally and have home CCTV or drove past at the time and have a dashcam on your vehicle, we need to hear from you.

“Any piece of information could be key to finding those responsible, so come forward directly or anonymously to Crimestoppers and we will take action.”
