A TEAM of Wirral divers have completed the Great North Swim in Lake Windermere to raise cash for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The team from Wirral Sub-Aqua Club completed the one mile event on Saturday, June 9 following their success in the Swimathon 2017 which raised around £1,100 for the charity.
This year, the group of five members - Richard Spencer, Martin Greenwood, Jennifer Scholey, Kath Greenwood and James Beattie decided to go a breaststroke further to enter their first ever open water swimming event.
The five began their training in a swimming pool before continuing to practice in a shallow lake near Delamere called Hatchmere.
Around 10,000 swimmers took part in the Great North Swim over three days.
Wirral Sub-Aqua team beat their fundraising goal and raised more than £1,500 for their chosen charity.
The group are always looking for new members to join at Neston Recreation Centre and they will be holdign a Try-Snorkel event on Thursday, June 21 and a Try-Dive event on Thursday, June 28.
